Belgium Premium Biscuit Launch Validation
A bounded launch-validation research sample built to narrow a real commercial configuration question without pretending that public shelf data is consumer demand.
Decision question
Which customer × buying occasion × positioning × pack/price × channel configuration is credible enough to test first for a premium biscuit launch in Belgium?
What the evidence showed
Observed
A current purposeful sample across Carrefour Belgium, Delhaize, Collect&Go/Colruyt and Maison Dandoy showed materially different grocery, artisan DTC and gifting price/pack architectures rather than one simple “premium” band.
Interpretation
The early segmentation lens was more useful when framed by buying occasion and route — for example corporate/client gifting, host/social gifting and Belgian souvenir/tourist gifting — rather than by an invented demographic persona.
Implication
A first launch test can be designed around a small number of explicit customer × occasion × pack/price × channel hypotheses instead of claiming a fully known Belgian premium-biscuit market.
Evidence boundary
A purposeful 50-SKU retail/DTC architecture sample is not representative Belgian sales or consumer data. Shelf price is not willingness-to-pay. Retailer presence is not market share or weighted distribution. The customer/occasion segments are working hypotheses until directly validated.
What remained unknown
Exact velocity, weighted distribution, promo dependence, penetration, repeat behaviour and willingness-to-pay remain unknown without compatible syndicated, panel or primary research.
